Fridge Buyback Program to help the environment
Mosman Council is participating in the ‘Fridge Buyback Program’, in the hope local residents will trade in their second fridges to help the environment. Rental Market should ring Alarm Bells
BIS Shrapnel’s claim that residential rents in Sydney will rise by 40% over the next four years, coupled with the Real Estate Institute of NSW’s own Vacancy Rate Survey showing that rental properties in the city are scarcer than at any time in the past six years, should be ringing alarm bells in Macquarie Street, REINSW President Cristine Castle said today.

October NSW Market Update
The NSW and ACT property markets appear to have thrown off the shackles of cooler conditions. The June quarter figures from the Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) show rising median house values in both the ACT (up 1.3%) and Sydney (up 1.2%). Indeed, Canberra enjoyed 7.8% growth in house prices for the year ended 30 June 2006.

Home Lending Up in May
This week, the Australian Bureau of Statistics released their housing finance figures for the month of May to some unexpected results. According to the figures, the number of home loans rose 4.7 per cent to reach 62,768 despite the interest rate rise of the same month.

Smoke Alarms & Sale Contracts
The good news about smoke alarms is that the confusion created by the NSW Government's new laws, particularly the need to attach a statement to the contract for sale saying the dwelling complies, has been brought to an end.
